Presenting the budget tagged “Budget of Renewed Momentum” in Enugu, Mbah said the figure represented 66.5 per cent higher than the 2025 budget.

He said that the budget was expected to sustain the momentum his administration had achieved in the last two years, which he maintained had been impactful.

Giving a breakdown of the budget estimate, Mbah said that ₦321 billion representing 20 per cent of the total budget would go into the recurrent expenditure while ₦1.29 trillion would be for the capital expenditure.

He noted that the budget was built on four clear pillars, comprising empowerment and education, inclusive and people centred development, good governance and economic transformation.

According to him, the budget will be financed with ₦870 billion from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), ₦387 billion from the Federal Allocation and ₦329 billion from the capital receipt.

On the sectoral allocation, the Economic sector received the highest allocation of N825 billion, followed by the social sector which received N644 billion.

The administration sector was allocated ₦128 billion, the Law and Justice sector received ₦15 billion while the Regional sector got ₦2 billion.

Giving an overview of the outgoing budget, Mbah disclosed that the 2025 budget had recorded 83 per cent implementation level and expressed the hope that the performance would increase before the end of the year.

Responding, the Speaker of the House, Chief Uche Ugwu, commended the governor for the wonderful transformation of the state within two years in office.

While pledging more support for the administration, the speaker assured the governor of accelerated hearing and passage of the appropriation bill to achieve his developmental objectives. #Peter Mbah of Presents ₦1.62trn Appropriation Bill for 2026 Fiscal Year#
