XRP Up 4% as Ripple Targets $13T Treasury Market with RLUSD

XRP price rose by approximately 4% to $1.39 on Monday, significantly outperforming Bitcoin’s +1.2% move, primarily driven by anticipation of a key U.S. regulatory vote.

The token climbed as traders’ position ahead of U.S. Senate cloture vote on the CLARITY Act vote scheduled for Sept 15.

The bill aims to clarify digital asset regulations, and its advancement is seen as a major positive for XRP, which gained regulatory clarity last year.

Traders are front-running the potential for a short squeeze, with analysis noting $9.46 million in XRP shorts are at risk if the price rallies just over 5%. The price is being driven by a high-impact, binary political event rather than organic ecosystem growth.

The price decisively broke above the $1.38 resistance level, a point highlighted by analyst Ali Martinez as critical for confirming a bullish breakout. This move was validated by a 139.32% spike in 24-hour volume to $2.44 billion, indicating strong buying conviction.

The breakout has shifted market structure to bullish, provided the price can hold above $1.38. A sustained daily close above $1.38 to maintain bullish momentum; a fall back below would signal a false breakout.

The immediate trend hinges on the CLARITY Act vote. If the cloture vote succeeds, it could trigger the predicted short squeeze, propelling XRP toward the next resistance at $1.60.

Conversely, a failed vote would likely see profit-taking, pushing price back to test the key support band between $1.31 and $1.33. Expect elevated volatility in the next 24-48 hours driven by political news, overriding typical market technical.

XRP’s rally is a bet on favourable U.S. regulation, amplified by a technical breakout. The move lacks a clear secondary driver from broader altcoin rotation or derivatives frenzy, making it highly sensitive to a single political outcome.

Ripple is targeting corporate treasuries handling roughly $13 trillion a year as a distribution channel for its RLUSD stablecoin, Ripple stablecoin chief Jack McDonald said.

RLUSD has about $2.4 billion circulating—approximately $1.4 billion on Ethereum and $1.0 billion on the $XRP Ledger—and daily activity rose from around $200 million early 2026 to about $750 million in August.

Ripple says the $13 trillion figure describes transactions touching its treasury customers, not an $RLUSD volume forecast or customer commitment.

Ripple acquired GTreasury for $1 billion in October 2025 and now operates Ripple Treasury, which serves about 1,200 corporate treasurers and CFOs.

Payments and capital markets are the two major current application areas, and Ripple has partnered with institutions such as Franklin Templeton and DBS on tokenized money market funds and lending.

Data from Upbit’s analytics portal shows XRP was the most actively traded asset on the exchange for the week ending September 14, surpassing Bitcoin and USDT. The exchange’s total weekly volume rose 6.74% to ~$8.35 billion.

This is bullish for XRP as it underscores sustained, high-conviction retail demand in a key Asian market. Upbit’s trading patterns often serve as a bellwether for regional sentiment, indicating speculative interest or news-driven activity
