SK Hynix Tokenised Stock Dips 4% as Asian Tech Shares Fall

SK Hynix tokenised stock (Backpack) price is down 3.56% to $147.57 on Wednesday underperforming a mixed market, primarily driven by weakness in the underlying equity amid broader tech-sector pressures.

Underlying equity sell-off, as Asian tech shares fell on early U.S. midterm election results and persistent concerns over memory-chip pricing pressures.

The tokenised SKHY tracks the value of SK Hynix’s American Depositary Receipt (ADR). Early U.S. midterm results pointing to a Democratic advantage sparked a sell-off in Asian tech shares, with South Korea’s KOSPI index and chip stocks weakening.

Concurrently, reports of “unprecedented” memory-chip price hikes pressuring Apple’s margins highlighted ongoing sector headwinds. The drop reflects traditional equity market sentiment, not a crypto-specific issue.

The immediate trend is bearish, aligning with the underlying stock. Key support is near $145.

If selling pressure in the chip sector abates and SKHY holds this level, a period of consolidation between $145 and $155 is likely. A break below $145 could see a test of the next support near $140.

The token’s path is tied to the fortunes of the semiconductor equity sector. The decline is a direct reflection of negative sentiment in the traditional semiconductor equity space, outweighing any positive developments in its tokenisation infrastructure.

Kamino Finance launched an isolated lending market on Solana where holders of Backpack Securities’ tokenised stocks, including SK Hynix (SKHY), can lock their shares as collateral to borrow USDC.

The pool has specific risk parameters: SKHY has a 40% maximum loan-to-value (LTV) ratio and a 60% liquidation threshold. This enables holders to access liquidity without selling their equity exposure.

This is bullish for SKHY because it increases the token’s utility and capital efficiency within the Solana DeFi ecosystem, potentially driving demand from borrowers and lenders.

However, it introduces new risks, such as weekend liquidation vulnerability when U.S. equity markets are closed and oracle prices are static.

SKHY is transitioning from a simple tracking asset to a productive financial instrument within Solana’s DeFi landscape, underscored by its new role as loan collateral.   XRP Holds Firm as Ripple Gains Institutional Custody Via BNY
