SK Hynix Tokenised bStocks Drops by 4% on Semiconductor Selloff

SK Hynix Tokenised bStocks (SKHYB) price declined by 4.20% in 24 hours to $135.99 on Tuesday, underperforming a slightly weaker crypto market, amid a broad selloff in semiconductor stocks driven by AI spending and financing fears.

SKHYB dipped on a sector-wide semiconductor selloff, triggered by concerns over AI investment profitability and forced liquidations in South Korean markets.

The token tracks the American depositary receipts (ADRs) of SK Hynix, which fell sharply alongside South Korean chip stocks. The KOSPI index fell 17% through October 16, with Samsung and SK Hynix leading the losses.

Analysts cite growing concerns over the financing and profitability of massive AI capital expenditures, sparking a risk-off move. The price move is driven by fundamentals in the traditional equity sector, not crypto-specific factors.

The market is watching for signs of stabilisation in the PHLX Semiconductor Sector Index, which ended an eight-session slide on October 19.

SKHYB’s 4.20% drop outpaced the 1.77% decline in the total crypto market cap, suggesting it’s reacting more to equity-market stress than to crypto sentiment. The selloff was exacerbated by forced liquidations of leveraged traders, which topped 50 billion won for four consecutive sessions

The token is currently more sensitive to traditional market de-risking than to broader crypto flows. The immediate trend is tied to the semiconductor sector’s recovery. If SKHYB holds above the $135 level, it may attempt to reclaim $150.

A break below $135 could see a test of the next support near $120. The upcoming earnings reports from major tech firms like Meta and Tesla on October 21 will be a key test for AI investment sentiment.

The outlook is cautiously bearish until the chip sector shows sustained buying interest. A daily close above $150 would signal a potential reversal of the recent downtrend.

The drop is primarily a reflection of a risk-off rotation out of semiconductor equities, amplified by localised liquidations, rather than a crypto-native event Quack AI Soars 48%, Volume Spikes on Intense Spot Buying
