Buying interest in Seplat, FirstHoldco, GTCO, and some banking names boosted the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) indices on Friday, with the equities market capitalisation surging by more than N1.38 trillion.

The Nigerian stock market closed the week on a bullish note as investors returned to take positions in fundamentally sound listed companies, driving key market performance indicators higher by 0.90%.

The uptick was driven largely by gains in the Oil & Gas and Banking sectors; SEPLAT, GTCO, ZENITHBANK, and ACCESSCORP, among others, recorded positive price movements.  The NGX All-Share Index added 2,142.38 basis points in today’s trading session, reflecting a 0.90% increase to close at 241,298.47.

The stock market capitalisation gained ₦1,383.51 billion to close at ₦155.83 trillion on Friday. Total volume of all shares transacted in the market increased by +21.04% while transaction value, on the other hand, declined by -15.01%.

In a note, Atlass Portfolio Limited told investors that approximately 605.17 million units valued at ₦29,872.55 million were transacted across 38,421 deals.

ACCESSCORP topped the volume chart, accounting for 10.47% of all volume traded in the market, followed by ZENITHBANK (10.35%), INTENEGINS (8.80%), CHAMS (8.49%), and TRANSCOHOT with 5.59%.

TRANSCOHOT accounted for 21.19% of the total value of all trades executed on the local bourse, making it the most actively traded on the exchange.

SEPLAT topped the gainers chart, up by +10.00%, then trailed by TRANSCOHOT (+9.76%), OMATEK (+9.49%), DAARCOMM (+9.42%), UPL (+8.57%), FIRSTHOLDCO (+7.41%), and twenty-seven others.
