    NASD OTC Ends 2021 with N629 bln Market Capitalisation

    NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange market for unlisted companies’ stocks rests the financial year 2021 with N629 billion market capitalisation, according to the latest data from the platform.

    The OTC Securities Exchange closed on a positive note as the market recorded an increase in performance, both value and volume deals expanded above the previous year.

    Bola Ajomale, NASD Plc Managing Director and Chief Executive said in a statement that with 2021 ended, the NASD OTC Securities market recorded impressive growth in the number of deals, trade volume and value executed.

    Comparing the just concluded year to the previous year 2020, NASD Chief Executive hinted the OTC market grew by 233.42%, 63.29% and 158.88% respectively.

    For the year, the OTC market for unlisted securities processed trading activities of 4,988 deals, trade volume of 12,949,534,051 and trade value of N32,845,468,092.22.

    Data shows that NASD Security Index year to date returns increased by 1.34% while total volume traded for 12-month stands at 12,949,534,051 units in 4988 deals and the total value traded is ₦32,845,468,092.22.

    In the last trading week, NASD OTC Securities Exchange Index closed on a positive return on NSI. The NSI return increased by 1.09% to close the week at 742.85 points against 734.82 on Friday, December 24, 2021.

    Overall, the NASD investors gain ₦6.8 billion in value. NASD OTC market capitalization closed at ₦629.03 billion compared to ₦622.23 billion on Friday, December 24, 2021, resulting from a positive movement in prices.

    There was a 197.95% increase in the total value traded during the week, NASD Investors trade a total of ₦1,939,435,369.13 in value compared to ₦650,922,103.43 in the previous week.

    Total trade activity for the year is valued at ₦32,845,468,092.22.

    Total volume traded during the last trading week was 99,565,221 units compared to 26,460,160 units in the previous week leading to a 276.28% increase in trade volume compared to the previous week.

    The total volume traded for the year is 12,949,534,051 units.

    The year closed with Food Concepts PLC ranking top among the five most traded securities by volume and Central Securities Clearing System PLC as the fifth most traded stock by volume traded in the year.

    The company also ranked top among the five most traded securities by value and Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria PLC stood as the fifth most traded Security by value for the year.

    Top Advancers for the Year

    NASD PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦8.30 billion closed the year at ₦18.7 representing a 434.29 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦3.5.

    VFD Group PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦30.66 billion closed the year at ₦361.82 representing a 244.36 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦105.07.

    Central Securities Clearing System PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦91.25 billion closed the year at ₦18.25 representing a 21.26 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦15.05.

    Industrial and General Insurance PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦996 Million closed the year at ₦0.08 representing a 14.29 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦0.07.

    Newrest ASL Nigeria PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦6.97 Billion closed the year at ₦11.00 representing a 10.00 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦10.00.

    On the decliners side, Niger Delta Exploration & Production PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦42.72 billion closed the year at ₦235.50 representing a 30.74 per cent decrease from the previous close of ₦340.00.

    Swap Technologies and Telecoms PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦1.73 billion closed the year at ₦0.64 representing a 27.27 per cent decrease from the previous close of ₦0.88.

    Afriland Properties PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦1.47 billion closed the year at ₦1.07 representing a 22.46 per cent decrease from the previous close of ₦1.38.

    Mixta Real Estate PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦17.29 billion closed the year at ₦1.76 representing a 20.00 per cent decrease from the previous close of ₦2.2.

    Mass Telecommunication & Innovation PLC, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦2.20 billion closed the year at ₦0.45 representing a 10.00 per cent decrease from the previous close of ₦0.50.

    Trading activities for 2020 were 1,496 deals, trade volume of 7,930,320,52, and N12,687,637,817.08 in value respectively. However, the market closed in the year 2021 at 742.85 points on NSI, a market capitalization of 629.03 billion.
