Ethereum Tops $2.5k, Institutional Investors Entering Positions
Ethereum (ETH) price inched higher by more than 2.5% to $2,512, outperforming a flat Bitcoin, primarily driven by a rotation of institutional capital into Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs completed a ten-day streak of net inflows, totalling $1.52 billion as of 28 August. BlackRock’s ETH ETF dominated, attracting $1.02 billion (72% of total inflows) over nine sessions, even as ETH’s price corrected to around $2,436.
A crypto trader said this is strongly bullish for Ethereum as it demonstrates sustained institutional demand that can offset selling pressure, with BlackRock’s aggressive accumulation providing a solid base of support.
The consistent inflows suggest ETH is being treated as a core portfolio allocation, traders said. This rotation suggests capital is favouring ETH’s relative value after Bitcoin’s recent rally and in response to hawkish Fed commentary.
Ethereum is demonstrating independent demand from regulated products, providing a cushion against broader market volatility.
Investors sentiment is bolstered by progress on the Glamsterdam upgrade, a major protocol change now in final testing with a testnet expected in September–October.
Concurrently, ETH moved in line with a 1.2% uptick in total crypto market cap on Sunday.
While not a direct 24-hour catalyst, the upgrade timeline supports a constructive longer-term narrative, and beta provided a tailwind.
The immediate trend is bullish but extended. The key upcoming catalyst is the Glamsterdam testnet launch in September. For price, holding above the $2,381 support is critical for maintaining momentum toward $2,500–$2,550.
A failure there could see a correction toward $2,300. The balance between persistent ETF demand and overbought conditions will dictate the next directional move.
A daily close above $2,500 to signal strength, or a break below $2,381 to indicate profit-taking.
Ethereum’s gain is supported by a clear rotation into its ETFs and constructive development progress, though short-term technicals suggest caution.
Ethereum price target lifted to $3k on sustained buying interest.
Sberbank, Russia’s largest bank, announced plans to accept Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT as collateral for corporate loans once new digital asset regulations take effect on 1 September 2026.
The bank has already tested this model with clients and will expand pending central bank approval for ETH and USDT circulation.
This is bullish for Ethereum because it represents a major step toward institutional adoption and utility within the regulated banking sector, potentially increasing demand from corporate treasuries.
It also validates ETH’s role as a credible financial asset in a large economy. #
