Erin Piacenti, Bank of America VP, Killed in Times Square Attack
A Bank of America vice president has been identified as the woman fatally stabbed in a random attack in Times Square on Monday afternoon.
The victim, Erin Piacenti, 32, from Chester, New Jersey, was Vice President of Business Selection and Conflicts in Bank of America’s global corporate and investment banking division, according to her LinkedIn profile and reports first published by Bloomberg. She died from abdominal stab wounds sustained in the attack.
The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. near Seventh Avenue and West 42nd Street, one of New York’s busiest pedestrian corridors, when a woman armed with multiple knives attacked two people.
New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the attack appeared random and unprovoked, with no indication the victims knew their attacker.
Police identified the suspect as Pamela Cisneros, 49. According to the NYPD, officers responding to a 911 call found Cisneros wielding two large knives. After a Taser failed to stop her from advancing toward officers, police fired their weapons. Cisneros was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she died.
A second victim, a 68-year-old man who was also stabbed in the abdomen, was transported to Bellevue and listed in stable condition on Tuesday.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said at a Monday briefing that the woman was carrying multiple knives when she stabbed two people before officers intervened.
Bank of America confirmed Piacenti’s death in a statement on Tuesday. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones,” the bank said.
The bank’s Manhattan headquarters at One Bryant Park is a short distance from the scene. The NYPD Force Investigation Division is handling the investigation into the police shooting.
