BNB Price Dips after Binance Launches Gold, Silver Option Trading

Binance Coin (BNB) price dipped by about 3% to $577.93 in response to Binance expanding beyond crypto into USDT-settled commodity option trading in gold and silver.

Binance has launched USDT-settled options trading for gold and silver through its regulated exchange in Abu Dhabi, Nest Exchange Limited, expanding its traditional financial product lineup beyond cryptocurrencies.

Retail users can only buy options, limiting downside risk to the premium already paid; qualified institutional users and liquidity providers can simultaneously sell options to collect premiums.

This launch builds on Binance’s perpetual futures for gold and silver introduced in January, further expanding its regulated traditional asset trading offerings.

Trading volume and transaction value of BNB are down by 25% simultaneously, with the market value of Binance Coin hovering around $77 billion in the weekend session.

A concentrated liquidation event wiped out approximately $34.57 million in BNB long positions, accelerating the sell-off as margin calls hit thin order books.

The sharp drop was amplified by a derivatives squeeze. Data shows BNB saw about $34.57 million in liquidations over 24 hours, with longs dominating.

Prior to the move, open interest was near $950 million with a high long-to-short ratio, indicating crowded bullish bets. When price dipped, these leveraged positions were forcibly closed, creating a feedback loop of selling pressure.

The drop was less about fundamental news and more about a violent reset of overextended leverage, a common short-term volatility driver. A stabilisation in open interest and funding rates signals the liquidation cascade has concluded.

BNB’s decline coincided with a risk-off move across crypto. The total market cap fell 0.86%, with Bitcoin down 0.99%. News reports attributed the wider sell-off to global macro sentiment following central bank policy decisions, rather than coin-specific catalysts.

BNB acted as a high-beta version of the market move, falling more than BTC due to its thinner liquidity and higher leverage exposure.

The immediate focus is on whether support holds. Social chatter highlights the $584–$586 area as a recent key zone, now broken. The next significant support is around $570–$575, near the 30-day simple moving average.

The structure is bearish in the very short term, but deeply oversold conditions could invite a bounce if spot buyers step in. A reclaim of the $588 pivot point would be the first sign of seller exhaustion, while a drop below $570 could trigger another wave of stop-losses.

The combination of a macro dip and a violent long squeeze has pushed BNB below key near-term levels. While ecosystem developments like the H2 tech roadmap provide long-term context, they did not offset the immediate derivatives-driven sell-off.
